Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again. Please be reminded that Form 5500 must be filed electronically. No paper filings of any kind will be accepted. If you e-filed your Form 5500 in 2014 for your 2013 plan year, you already registered for your filing credentials (UserID and PIN) at the DOL website. However, you may need to return to the site to update your password at www.efast.dol.gov. In the event that this is your first time e-filing a Form 5500; please contact your Plan Account Manager for instructions.
The Form 5500 filing deadline for the 1/1/2014 – 12/31/2014 plan year is July 31, 2015. As a matter of course to ensure the compliance of all of our clients, we are filing an extension to October 15, 2015. As such, you may receive a confirmation of extension letter from the IRS. If you submitted your year end information, in good order, by April 30, 2015, our filing of your extension is complimentary. If you submitted your year end information, in good order, after April 30, 2015 or not at all, the fee for this additional service is $150.
Once BCG publishes your prepared Form 5500; the system will generate an email notifying you that the 5500 is ready and inviting you to an electronic signing ceremony where an authorized representative of your company will enter his/her credentials. You will access the website and enter your credentials (user ID and PIN code) and your Form 5500 will be electronically transmitted. You should also physically sign a printed copy of the return and retain it in your files.
If you prefer the convenience of BCG electronically filing on your behalf: Complete and submit the Efile Authorization Form (Click Here). BCG will provide you with a paper copy of the prepared Form 5500, which you will sign and return (retain the original for your records). We will use our credentials to electronically file the return for you. The investment for this service is $275.
